Story mode

Fifty-six Echoes to beat, a Herald and a banner at the end of each chapter

  • 8chapters
  • 56games
  • 8Heralds to earn
  • 4Echo levels

Story mode is played alone, against the Echo. Eight chapters, one for each Order that has a Herald: each one is played with that Order and a second Order of your choice, against stronger and stronger opponents, up to the Warlord who ends it. Once the chapter is finished, the Herald is yours, and the Order's banner with it.

The Gilded and the Chimeras have no chapter: they are there from the start, in every mode.

Questions

Story mode in four questions

How many games does Story mode have?

56, in eight chapters: six for the Cinders, eight for the Cursed, six for the Abyssals, seven for the Plagued, six for the Guardians, nine for the Archers, six for the Pikes and eight for the Scribes. The number of games in a chapter is the highest rank of its Order.

Do the chapters have to be played in order?

Yes. A chapter opens when the previous one is finished, that is, when its Warlord is beaten.

What happens when I lose a game?

Nothing serious: you replay the same game, against the same opponent. Your previous wins in the chapter are kept.

What level are the opponents?

The first games of a chapter are against Novices, then come the Fighters and the Veterans. The last game is always against a Warlord, the Echo's strongest level, which anticipates your best reply.
