EMPRISE is a tactical card game developed and published by Alexandre Esnard, an individual, who can be reached at contact@empriselejeu.fr. This document explains what data the game processes, why, and how you stay in control of it.
The essentials: to play, EMPRISE asks for no name, no email address and no phone number. You play under a username you choose. An email address is only passed on if you decide to save your progress with a Google or Apple account. No advertising, no advertising trackers, no resale of data.
The data controller is Alexandre Esnard, publisher of EMPRISE. For any question or request about your data, write to contact@empriselejeu.fr.
EMPRISE creates an anonymous account for you the first time you open the game. This account is not linked to any personal information: it comes down to a technical identifier generated automatically.
The data associated with this account is:
Some information stays on your device, in the game's local storage: your coins and gems, your settings, your progress in Story mode. It is only transmitted if you save your progress (see below), and your settings never leave the device.
In the settings, under “My account”, you can link your account to a Google or Apple account to find your progress again on another device. This is optional: if you do not do it, none of what follows is collected.
If you do, Firebase receives the identifier of that account and its email address. With Apple, you can choose to hide your address: Apple then passes on a relay address. A copy of your progress is also stored online and updated while you play: level and statistics, quests, streak of days played, coins and gems, purchases, items obtained, progress in Story mode and the history of your games.
In the iPhone app, purchases (gems, the Campaign's Oath) are paid to Apple. EMPRISE never receives your bank details or your Apple ID: the game only keeps the number of each transaction, so as not to credit the same purchase twice.
The data above is used solely to make the game work: matching you with an opponent, advancing your profile, keeping the leaderboard, letting your friends find and challenge you, and handling reports of abusive behavior.
The legal basis for this processing is the performance of the service you request by using EMPRISE, as well as our legitimate interest in maintaining a fair gaming environment.
EMPRISE relies on Firebase, a service provided by Google, for authentication (anonymous, or through Google and Apple if you save your progress) and for the database. Your game data is stored there. Google may process this data on servers located outside the European Union, under the safeguards provided for by European regulations. Google's privacy policy can be read at policies.google.com/privacy.
The app is distributed through Vercel, which hosts the site and records technical connection logs (IP address, type of browser) for security and operational reasons.
The feedback sent from the game is also forwarded by email to the publisher through Web3Forms, a form delivery service that routes it to the publisher's inbox and keeps it for three years at most. Its privacy policy can be read at web3forms.com/privacy.
To know how many people open the game and how they get there, EMPRISE uses Vercel Web Analytics, the measurement tool provided by its host. It sets no cookies and cannot identify you: each visit is counted from a technical fingerprint recalculated every day, which is linked neither to your game account, nor to your username, nor to a person.
The information collected is limited to the page viewed, the site or link the visit comes from, the type of device and the country. It is used only to measure how much the game is played. It is not resold, not cross-referenced with your game data, and not used to follow you from one site to another.
Your profile data is kept as long as your account exists. Game records are kept for the duration of the game and of its recent history. If you delete your account, all of your data will be erased.
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict and object to its processing, and the right to data portability. You can exercise them:
You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL), 3 place de Fontenoy, 75007 Paris, or at cnil.fr.
Deletion is available from the game's settings screen, under “My account”. It is permanent and immediate: your profile, your username, your friend code, your friends list, your progress and your cosmetic items are erased. If your account is linked to Google or Apple, that link and the online copy of your progress are erased too, and the access granted to EMPRISE by your Apple account is revoked. This action cannot be undone and no restoration is possible.
EMPRISE is not specifically aimed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from people under thirteen. To play, the game asks for no personal information, and no identifiable profile is built.
This policy may change, in particular if new features are added to the game. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page. Any substantial change will be announced in the game.
